STARFISH FAMILY SERVICES

CHALLENGE:

Starfish Family Services, a 54-year provider of parenting resources, children’s mental health services and Head Start programs had adopted a comprehensive trauma focused culture that would expand its range of services to provide a mental healthcare component to all of the children it serves – from infancy to age 5. The challenge was to position this new trauma focused culture as a complement to Starfish’s current services and not as a replacement to established service programs.

SOLUTION: 

The strategy was not only to position Starfish as a trend leader in understanding and addressing the impacts of trauma in our community, but also demonstrate how the new trauma culture and services would enhance the cadre of services the agency provides to children across the region.

Resulting coverage included local media included a Sunday front page Detroit Free Press story, Chalkbeat Detroit articles, local broadcast media coverage and Starfish’s recognition as a top Trauma Focused agency in the state.
